snowshoe essentials list ( besides your snowshoes and poles)

1. baselayer: long underwear (always wear wicking materials)

2. mid layer: a comfortable fleece

3. outer layer: waterproof jacket with hood for climate changes

4. merino wool socks: a liner sock may be worn with them for added warmth.

5. waterproof boots: a boot with a chunky rubber bottom is best.

6. waterproof or water-resistant pant: depending on weather conditions a lined waterproof pant can also be worn.

7. gloves and hat: a good fingered glove for manuvering poles easily and a light hat.

8. leg gaitors: to keep the snow out and off your legs.

9. extra clothes: carry in your backpack a warmer hat, warmer gloves or mittens, extra pair of socks, 

neck gaitor or balaclava, and a warmer compressible jacket for when you cool down.
